A Note from Shawn, MSW

Life, partnership, and fatherhood change everything. They reshape how you see the world, how you show up in your relationships, and how you relate to yourself.

But let’s get one thing straight right from the start:

I don’t have it all together, and you don’t need to either.

Whether you’re navigating fatherhood, supporting a partner, or simply working through your own personal growth, I’ve walked the path of figuring out where I fit, how to show up for the people I care about, and how to carry life's weight without losing myself in the process.

The truth is, peak performance in life and relationships doesn't come from perfection—it comes from presence, resilience, and having the right support in your corner.

  • Mindful Papa was created to give you a place to land, catch your breath, and do the real work of returning to yourself.

The Heart of the Work: Coming Back Home

At its core, my work is about helping you find a path back home—to a state of comfort in your own skin and ease in your own life.

Drawing on a Daoist perspective, true strength isn't about pushing harder or carrying more; it’s about learning to lighten your load. Think of our sessions as a safe space to unload all the "psychic junk" you’ve been carrying around. You bring it all in, lay it down, and let it out.

Consider me the psychic maid who helps you clean up the mess afterward so you can leave lighter than you arrived.

Who I Am

Outside of my practice, my life is rooted in the simple, grounding things that keep me human. You’ll usually find me out on a hiking trail or getting my hands dirty in the garden—being outdoors is where I clear the mental clutter, reset, and practice the same movement and self-care I encourage in others. Music is another huge outlet for me; I spend my downtime playing the drums and guitar to unwind (and I’ll gladly admit my ultimate guilty pleasure is early 2000s Outkast).

At home, I’m a proud dog dad, a father to three grown kids, and a supportive partner to Wendy, Founder of Doula Love.

My style, both in life and in the room with you, is pretty chill and grounded. We’ll laugh, keep things real, and move at a human pace.

But I’m also not here to just nod along—I have no problem calling you on your stuff when you need to hear it, always backed by deep respect and zero judgment.

Education & Experience

Ready to Lighten the Load?

Engaging deeply with your personal growth, partnership, or role as a parent is a powerful journey.

The only real question is: Are you ready to receive the support and growth that comes with it?

If you’re ready to drop the heavy pack, get comfortable in your skin, and show up as the partner you want to be, I’m here.
